Special Education and Student Support Services
The Student Services Office assists families and school staff to meet the unique needs of identified students who live in the towns of Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester. Educational services, evaluation, curriculum modifications and accommodations are offered to children through individualized learning programs. Families, guardians and other significant adults plan with teachers and specialists to coordinate educational plans for particular students.

For the most part, services are offered to students within the general education setting. However, when other services are required to meet the student's learning needs, it is provided. (For further information on special education programs available in these districts click here.)

The Student Services Office provides system-wide professional development on educational practices to improve the district's capacity to serve students with exceptional needs.

1. Preschool programs provide educational services to children with disabilities age 3 to 5. For preschool screening information, contact the Early Childhood Coordinator 508-748-1863.
2. All schools use an Instructional Support Intervention Process to assist teachers in accommodating the needs of children at risk of classroom failure. General education supplementary services available at various grade levels include Reading Recovery, Supplemental Reading or Math instruction, Title I support services, and other programs, which are described in each building's Curriculum Accommodation Plan.
3. Services for students who have limited English are available at all schools. For further information, contact your Building Principal.
4. Each school has a Student Resource Study Team (SRST), which is responsible for any referrals for evaluation to determine students eligibility for special education. Special Education, Speech and Language Services, Related Services and other services are available to eligible students at all Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester schools. To make a referral for these services, contact your Building Principal or the Director of Student Services.
5. The ORR, Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester School Districts have combined to establish a Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SpEd PAC). This Council provides trainings on parent and guardian rights and community awareness of the capabilities and contributions of children with disabilities. For information, contact the Director of Student Services.

Educational programs offered through the Old Rochester Regional, Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester School Districts do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, homelessness or disability in admission to, access to, treatment in or employment in its programs and activities. Furthermore, these school districts affirm the rights of all children with disabilities to a free, appropriate public education. Children living in Marion, Mattapoisett or Rochester who have a specific disability, and who need special education are entitled to special education services.
