Superintendent Search Process
Overview
On April 9th, 2009, Superintendent William Cooper submitted his retirement notice to the Joint School Committee, effective December 31, 2009.
As a result, the Old Rochester Regional School District/Massachusetts School Superintendency Union #55 School Committee (ORR/SU55) began the search process for a new superintendent, retaining the
Massachusetts Association of School Committees
(MASC) to assist with the recruitment, identification and selection of a superintendent for the ORR/SU55 School District. MASC's superintendent search service and process has been recognized statewide for its excellence by school committee members and candidates.
The ORR/SU55 School Committee Chairs are confident that the process will enable the selection of a candidate who best meets the leadership needs of the district and will continue the ORR/SU55 tradition of excellence.
MASC will be represented by Field Director Jim Hardy and Executive Director Glen Koocher.
Criteria for Selecting the Next Superintendent
As part of the selection process, a Leadership Profile will be developed to identify the key qualities, skills, beliefs and abilities to be demonstrated by the new superintendent. Jim Hardy (MASC) will be conducting a series of focus groups within the Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester communities to obtain input from parents, faculty, students, and community members.
A schedule for these meetings is being developed and will be posted in the events section. An on-line survey will also be used to gather input.
